Makes ~12 Rolls
Ingredients
Dough:
2 and 3/4 cups (345g) flour
1/4 cup (50g) sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
3/4 cup buttermilk (I used milk w/ juice of half a lemon)
5 Tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
Filling:
3 Tbsp butter soft or melted
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
Cream Cheese Icing:
2 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Tiny splash of milk
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F and butter a 9" cake pan.
2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add egg, buttermilk, and butter. Mix until one cohesive ball of dough forms.
4. Flour your workspace and roll the dough out into a large rectangle, roughly 10"x14".
5. Brush melted butter on the entire surface of the rolled out dough.
6. Sprinkle the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture over the buttered dough and spread out evenly.
7. Roll the dough up into a tight tube starting with the long end.
8. Cut tube into roughly 1" thick pieces. (roughly 12 pieces total)
9. Place pieces in pan, evenly spaced.
10. Bake for 22 minutes, until lightly golden.
11. Microwave cream cheese for 10-15 second until soft.
12. Add powdered sugar and vanilla and mix until smooth. Add a small splash of milk to achieve desires thickness.
13. Once rolls are finished baking, allow to cool slightly then add cream cheese icing.
